This article is a transcribed edited summary of a video Bob and Brad recorded in March of 2024. For the original video go to https://youtu.be/FCGzmFBOB_c

Mike: There is a machine that we think checks all the boxes of the best cardio workout machine on the market.

Brad: And today, we're going to talk about Bob's favorite device that fits into this and he uses it on a regular basis.

Mike: So as many of you may know, Bob was diagnosed with ataxia, which has affected his speech and his balance.

Brad: So in this situation, maintaining your strength, as anybody else that has problems with walking or they particularly like to do exercise in a seated position for whatever reason, this option fits the ticket.

Mike: And it's a great idea because we live in Minnesota and this time of year, there's snow and it's cold, so Bob can use this piece of equipment in his own home. So the device we're talking about is called the Teeter FreeStep LT3.

Brad: So this is a recumbent cross-trainer, which means you do it in a seated position, there's a back rest, and you could easily work this without having any difficulties in regards to balance. All right, let's go through a list of the benefits and why we really like this device.

Mike: So first off, it works your arms and your legs at the same time, working all four extremities, which is very different for anything seated compared to a standard bicycle.

Brad: And this machine is relatively inexpensive. If you compare it to any other good quality recumbent devices, you're going to find out the price is very low, very competitive, and it's going to be right for you.

Mike: It's also very easy to adjust the seat height as well as the arms. You simply have to pull a lever or turn a knob to set it up for your liking and it is very easy to get on and off.

Brad: That's right. Bob is six-foot-six and it adjusts well for him. My sister bought one, she's five-foot-four, and it worked extremely well for her, very versatile in regards to body size.

Mike: It is a very quiet machine as well. Bob likes to use it in his house when his wife may be sleeping in the morning so he wanted something that was extra quiet, and it also has 13 levels of resistance. You can pick which level works best for you.

Brad: Right, and naturally, this has very low impact, if any, so it's easy on your joints as well. It's not going to irritate arthritis, it's actually going to help those types of problems.

Mike: Now it also has SoftStep Pedals, they call them. They are larger than, say, your normal bicycle pedals, so you can easily put your feet in there, no matter what side, Bob has pretty big feet, and it'll comfortably hold them in there.

Brad: That's right, which is a big deal because sometimes that is an issue, particularly for people with Parkinson's or MS.

Mike: And also, the seat has a backrest as well, so you're not sitting in a perfectly upright position. You can lean back if you need it. Now there is some assembly required with this device. When you get it, it'll come in a large box. You just simply follow the instructions. I personally did it for Bob and it took me about an hour.

Brad: And he doesn't even know which end of a screwdriver to hold onto.

Mike: Nope.

Brad: The other advantage to this, if you like apps, it has a free personal training app to help you with routines and get you started so you do not get bored and you feel, and you can actually see your progress on your phone.

Mike: The app works with Android as well as Apple, it is 100% free, and it's not only just Teeter devices, it's also other exercises you can do as well.

Brad: Yeah, bonuses.
